# Snipget

> Snipget is a hosted utility API for AI agents: hundreds of deterministic data utilities for normalization, parsing, validation, and classification, callable over REST or MCP. Every tool is a pure function with no LLM inside, returning a consistent envelope with a confidence score and metadata.

Key things to know:

- Most utilities have a single-record variant and a batch variant. Batches accept up to 1000 inputs per call for most tools; data-backed lookups cap lower, and the OpenAPI spec states each endpoint's exact cap.
- Successful responses share one envelope: status, confidence, result, and meta (cost_units, request_id). Errors carry status, error_code, message, and meta.
- Vertical packs draw on maintained reference data: healthcare (NPI, DEA, NUCC taxonomy, clinical credentials), chemistry, and biotech.
- Agents connect over MCP at https://mcp.snipget.ai/mcp and can discover tools at runtime with the catalog_search_semantic, catalog_list, and catalog_describe tools.
- The homepage, /tools, and every tools page are also served as markdown: request them with an `Accept: text/markdown` header.
